Episode 2: Sake ni namida ga shimite ita

Ran arrives in a run down town after discovering she's completely out of sake. After hunting around the town for a little while, she finally finds a promising little restaurant. They have drinks listed for sale, and she orders one. When it arrives, she takes a sip, only to discover that it's water.

After exchanging some words with the proprietor, who expounds on the evils of drinking and refuses to feel bad for his false advertising, she heads out into the town again. She's on her way out when she runs into a drunken man, and soon locates the hidden bar on the edge of town. After being conducted into the secret basement, she orders again, and anticipates finally having a drink.

Myao has found her way to the bar as well, and drunkenly greets her friend. Ran is less excited to see her, and more interested in her drink. But! Horrors! It seems the sake has been watered down. Ran departs in disgust, avoiding an altercation with the goons running the place by paying for her drink (but actually stiffing them).

Still in search of sake, Ran runs into a young man carrying a bottle of it. It turns out he's actually in charge of producing the watered down version that's being sold at the bar, but he conducts her to the home of an old man who still actually makes the real thing. Ran throws herself at the barrel, but is stopped by the man, who says it still needs some time before it's ready.

The man and Ran collect the proper items to honor the sake when it's ready. Meanwhile, Myao has passed out at the bar, unseen by the proprietors, who sit and talk about their day's take. She lurches to her feet to confront them, even though she obviously can barely stand. The goons begin to come after her, and she draws herself up impressively to puke all over them.

The men running the sake racket have found out about the old man still making the real thing, and they come while Ran is still out and kill him. Worse, they smash the barrel of sake that she was waiting to drink.

Ran soon teaches the goons a lesson and departs again.
